SPIDERtel’s New Data Center and
Office Expansion.
We’ve recently moved our hosting data center operations to our brand
new facility, in order to make room for a new office expansion. The
data center is a first class facility with false floor, secure key
card entrance, security cameras, temperature controlled air, and
lots of room for expansion. Our office expansion, set for completion
in the first quarter of 2006, will allow for our continued growth in
the areas of web design and search marketing.

Search
Engine Updates:
Google Site Maps
Google
recently launched a new program to allow for the submission of a
list of the pages in your web site that you want to be “indexed” by
Google. By taking advantage of this program, which is still in Beta,
you can ensure that Google will visit all the pages in your web site
(that you want them to see) by submitting an XML file listing out
the pages – which they call a site map. Google offers no guarantees
that the pages will be listed or ranked well within their search
engine, but they do guarantee that the pages will be visited by
them. Clearly, this is a very significant opportunity for you if you
have pages that have not been indexed by Google. If your pages have
been optimized properly, it’s quite possible that you can enjoy new
and improved positioning within the search engines.
Let us know
if you’re interested in learning more about this important function
and how we may be able to help your web site’s search positioning.

Sustainable Search Marketing
A new
book tiled “Search Engine Marketing, Inc.” by Mike Moran and Bill
Hunt, noted industry experts in the field of search marketing
discusses why SEM is so vital to the average web site owner and how
to develop an SEM program that works. What is so refreshing to see
is that Moran and Hunt lay the groundwork for a program that we like
to refer as “sustainable” search marketing. That is, every technique
is designed for long term effectiveness rather than catering to the
search algorithm change of the moment. Catering to volatile changes
in the search engine ranking methodology may make you successful
today but could result in poor listings with the next change.
Focusing on increasing search referrals over the long haul without
tricky tactics or questionable incoming links, for example, requires
good content, lots of “consumer friendly” text, and high-quality
inbound links. These elements will never harm the site and always
good for generating and improving search engine traffic.
